Last night saw the start of a new season and a new campaign by twelve teams to reach the USAFL Championship. Seven teams had players in action on Thursday night which acted as a proof of concept for the full point per-reception (PPR) rule change this season. How much did that extra half point matter?
Despite some huge numbers put up by WRs and TEs last night, the half point had only slight positive gains in points and well within what was expected. The PPR was not the driving factor in last night's scoring parade, instead it was yards and TDs. When looking at the data in comparison of what was versus what could have been we see no more than a 5.5+ change for the largest gain of the evening.
Player | Half PPR | Full PPR |
33.5 | 39 | |
21.5 | 24 | |
20.5 | 24 |
Point increases were in line with what was expected and intended. but we will continue to monitor the PPR production to ensure this does not become an overpowered scoring ability that would require nerfing.
Last night also saw our first achievement of the regular season unlocked as Amari Cooper put up 39 points on 13 receptions for 139 yards and 2 TDs. This gave Sanctus Koala the Thursday Night Thriller Achievement and 100 XP towards the race to General Manager of the Year.
