Second Week Slaughterhouse

It was a lopsided episode this past week with no nailbiters to speak of... not one. In fact, the closest game this week was between Ebola and Koala which netted a 31 point difference. What could have been a slugfest Monday Night, turned into an epic defeat handed down by the Holy Penguins to World’s Finest. Going into the Monday night game the Pens needed 23 points for the win and they got 60! In one fell swoop, the Pens won their game, and unlocked the Dynamic Duo achievement with Aaron Jones and Tom Brady combining for 79 points, and the Mr. Monday night achievement with Jones and T.J. Hockenson combining for 59 points. Despite the stellar performance, it was not enough to take the weekly high score and the new 2021 high score. That honor goes to Yankee Zulu who blew away the rest of the league with 162 points. That ranks thirteenth all-time in USAFL history for a regular season score.

This begs the question, how has the move to full PPR and defensive scoring adjustments changed the league this year? To be honest, as expected. There's an obvious increase in scoring, but this only equates to an average of 9.5 more points per-team. Not a game changing statistic over two weeks. In fact, the scoring changes to the defense, which rewards less points and yards given up and punishes the opposite hasn't made much of a difference.
