Week 2 Recap - Early Week for all but 2 Teams...

As we finish up Sunday night, all but one game has been decided which puts the spotlight squarely on the Holy Penguins (0-1) and World’s Finest (1-0). More specifically, the spotlight is on Holy Penguins RB Aaron Jones and TE TJ Hockenson would need a combined 23 points for the win Monday Night. GM Dave S. did themselves no favors leaving Marquise Brown on the bench with 24 points. On the other side, the Holy Pens made all the right roster moves so far with the only exception being a -1-point difference between James Robinson and Elijah Mitchell giving them a near-perfect lineup.

D.C. Whitefish continues their dominance from week 1 putting up 136 points behind a MONSTER 49-point game from Derrick Henry. Certainly, he and Josh Allen’s 20 was the engine of this team and the only blemish for an optimal lineup was leaving Sterling Shepard on the bench. The win puts D.C. at 2-0 and in the running for the top spot in the USAFL. The Addicts take a step backward after a great showing in Week 1 leaving three optimal players on the bench, but it wouldn’t have made a difference when everything was said and done. The Whitefish improve to 3-4 against DAA while the Addicts drop to 0-2 and will get to faceoff against the Holy Pens next week.

Yankee Zulu came to play this week. Period. 159 points are the best of the year so far and had every player in double digits except Dallas Goedert and an 87.5% optimal lineup. That’s just good football. The combined 72 points of Lamar Jackson and Cooper Kupp will no doubt net YZ the best duo of the week. Zulu already collected their Sunday Night Stud achievement but could take a few more this week. Meanwhile, the #1 pick Christian McCaffrey earned his keep with 72 yards and 1 TD for 24 points. I shouldn’t count out Nash Kato. They still have Davante Adams left to play Monday, so 94 points could happen…

The Hawks and the Monster Army are a fairly even rivalry and the Hawks just made it even more balanced with a win that moves the career series to 6-6. The Hawks got the job done with solid performances across the board but could have given themselves some breathing room by starting Capt. Kirk Cousins over Ryan Tannehill for an 18-point boost. Three ugly performances sunk the Monster Army with normally studs Kamara and Edwards-Helaire combining for only 8 points. I also question starting the Dolphins D against the potent Buffalo offense. Not a lot of options on the wire, but even the Chiefs put up 6 points this week.

Another tough week for the Ducks who start their inaugural season at 0-2. A big underperformance for one of the best wideouts in the league, Tyreek Hill, who ended Sunday night with 3 receptions for only 14 yards. The real dagger came from Courtland Sutton’s 25 points on the bench would not have been the difference-maker, but would have made it a closer game. The Strokes come out of this matchup with a much-needed win and depending on Aaron Rodgers’ performance tomorrow, might boost their season point total into the top 50% of the league. Austin Ekeler’s 22 points put the RB back into the good graces of GM Stephen S. but it was the Bills defense that certainly made him smile as the 24 points sealed the win this week.

The main event this weekend featured two of the early favorites coming out of the draft. Koalas and Ebola faced off to take an early advantage in the Commonwealth Division and jump to 2-0 in the standings. Ebola certainly didn’t need any help from the plethora of points left on their bench as his core five players certainly boomed despite George Kittle’s bust this week. The Koalas has two hiccups this week that will send GM Kim S. back to the playbook to ask why Henry Ruggs III (Henry 3-Sticks) was left on the bench. Not all blame can be placed on that decision as the real killer was the Steelers defense putting up a big goose egg by giving up 26 points.
